kensington burger lounge opens 10/17

jay stopped into burger lounge in la jolla today and found out that the kensington branch on adams avenue will be opening tomorrow. the prices are actually pretty reasonable - $7 for a "tallgrass beef" burger. interestingly, the la jolla location isn't much bigger than the small kensington one - i guess the emphasis is on quick ordering and eating, or just taking out. with web ordering on the way, this is going to be a very convenient option for us in a neighborhood that lacks any cheap/quick eats.

Stopped by burger lounge today. Save for a few opening day glitches the food was awesome. Amazing really at those prices. Their version of a hostess cupcake is to die for. Can't wait until someone does the same thing with a twinkie.

sounds great mello. i agree, we were remarking on how reasonable the prices were on the menu - especially compared to just fabulous.

when i drove by tonight it was a complete mob scene in there. will check it out when things die down a bit.

Like the idea...the turkey burger was alright...hard to fine a great thick one in town. Disappointed in the onion rings as they were too salty. They kept on wanting to pick up our plates...hurry us out after spend $40.00 for burgers for two (2 burgers, 2 onion rings, one soda, one glass of wine. They want you to buy and leave!!!! It's ok...it was better then the place before...

we went over friday evening around 9 pm and had dinner. looks great on the inside, i like the sleek look of the bar and booths. and the number of large tables outside is convenient.

the cashier was kind of unfriendly, but our burgers came out in a timely manner (it wasn't too busy, but steady - lots of people getting food to go). it was a bit charred but still delicious. fries were good but not astounding. it is somewhat pricey overall, but compared to the $14(?) burger at the earlier just fabulous in this location...

Went on a busy weekday.
Service was slow and unattentive.
Could have driven down the hill to In-N-Out and back.
Numerous returns by customers whose orders were incorrect.
Lost one person's order.
Don't have it together yet.
Overall grade = C-

yes, our second visit was disappointing - we called in our order, but still had to stand in a 15 minute line to pick up our burgers (which were sitting on the counter the entire time). we were told to "get in line" when we inquired if we could pay and go. when we got to the front of the line, there was a mixup between the cashier and harried counter guy, so we got to wait a few minutes more for our now cold burgers. the broiler at our neighbors' house helped heat them back up however.
