the inevitable for jade theater

sd food buzz updates its rumor on the closing of jade theater with a confirmation. ever since it opened, we wondered how long a place could survive in that awful location at c and 7th, with hardly any pedestrian traffic around. the answer: one year. although there are plenty of scary reviews on that yelp page above, we ate there during restaurant week and it wasn't too bad. i liked the design of the place, too. it will be interesting to see what, if anything, opens in this challenging spot in an even more challenging economy.
