cafe forte

cafe forte moved to their new digs just south of university on grim this summer, and we dropped by for the first time since then for a quick breakfast last sunday. the space retains its coffee shop feel, with tables and cozy furniture scattered between the unique artwork on the walls. however, the dropped ceilings seem out of place, making it seem like you're in an office.
the food was surprisingly good - my veggie omelette was chock full of mushrooms, onions and other goodies, while jay's turkey breast panini was the best sandwich he's had a while. the friendly "chef" came by our table and explained that she had worked in several local sandwich shops over the years. and my americano was bold and flavorful, making it apparent that cafe forte is serious about their coffee.
i've always liked clusters of small-canvas art, and two of the walls were full of these:

good food with strong coffee, interesting art and very hospitable service make for an enjoyable experience at cafe forte.
