still breathing
not every san diego condo or new business project has succumbed to the crappy economy and lack of lending. here's what jonathan segal's the q condo project on india street looks like right now (more info):

over in north park, two new bars are under various stages of construction. next door to urban solace, in the old shooters location, is true north:

further south on 30th, mosaic wine bar has their signage up, but it looks as if they still have a bit of work to do before opening:

meanwhile, back at 30th and el cajon, something is being built at the site of the old texaco gas station on the southeast corner:

and the building that housed the now defunct children's book store on adams in normal heights seems to be getting some work, with big new window cutouts visible:

hotel indigo in east village looks like it's close to topping out at its planned 12 stories:

banker's hill has some activity, not all of it good - this new construction at 2233 front st. demolished an irving gill home and is completely out of scale with the rest of the street, much less the two gill homes on its north side:

bayside is using tan stone in their construction, which beats the stucco most new condo projects get:

finally, two projects on brant street in banker's hill are in progress - banker's hill green:

and another project just north of it.

I love your architectural posts paul! I am interested to see what happens with Mosaic. It finally is up and being constructed on after laying dormant for too long.
Maybe you covered this before but what is the building across from Sombrero's in South Park on 30th near Juniper? The empty under construction one that used to be an awesome dive bar serving only beer (forget the name). It looks kind of interesting.

thanks tyler, good to hear mosaic is being worked on again. abu, i passed your question along to a south park source and they think you're referring to the new burger place (technically on fern st.) being opened by the owner of whistlestop.
It's great to see infill projects moving forward these days. I we can replace all of the ugly Huffman six-packs with rowhomes, I'll never ask for anything else.
